Panel Installation - Instruction
|
|
Determine which flashings need to be installed prior to roof panels (eave flashings).
-
Align the female edge of the first panel with the chalk line along the gable end. Allow the roof panel to overhang fascia minimum 1". The panel must be 11/2" down from the ridge.
-
After the roof panel is properly aligned, screw down the roof panel on the female side; fasten down the panel at the nailing flange. Now install the gable flashings.
-
Snap the second panel at the seam. Work the seam together from the eave to the ridge. Do not work the seam from the middle to each end.
-
Fasten down the panel by screwing the flange through the slots. If the slots are not located on the strapping, screw through the flange using the slots as a guide.
-
Apply panels as shown.
-
Attach large closures at the top of the panel.
-
Fasten Z bar over the closures at the top of the panel.

Roof Preparation: Instruction
|
|
Our products can be used in both new and old construction. We recommend installation over solid substrate. Installation over strapping is also possible. The following steps should be taken to prepare the roof for installation of any roof panel.
-
Make sure there are no nails or other objects that might puncture the underlayment of roof panels.
-
Check all details for possible roof penetrations which must be added to the roof prior to panel installation (vented ridge - plumbing stacks).
-
Cover the roof deck with Nova Seal, overlaying 6". When installing over strapping, run the felt parallel with the metal panels, making sure that the felt is tight.
-
Snap a chalk line along the gable end where the first panel will be installed. This line should be ½" away from the edge of the roof and square with the eave.
|
Roof Preparation: Existing Roof
In some cases metal roofing can go over existing roofing. For those roofs use 1x4 strapping on 16" O.C. screwed through to the rafter. (The minimum pitch for Prolok 12 is 2/12 pitch).
-
Inspect the roof for damage and make repairs.
-
Secure any warped or loose sheeting.
-
Remove all moss and debris from roof.
-
Screw down 1x4 on 16" O.C.
